Job title: Welder Fabricator

Reports to: Director of Fabrication

Supervisory responsibilities: N/A

Summary/objective: Steel Craft Technologies (SCT) is looking to add Welder/Fabricators to their day shift team at the Grand Rapids, MI facility AND the Belmont, MI facility! Under general supervision with minimal to no assistance, you will perform a variety of fabrication duties. This position requires thorough knowledge of fabrication practices and welding procedures. Experience with thick plate weldments is a plus. 

SCT is seeking entry-level and experienced candidates.

Essential functions:

• Comprehend and follow blueprints in accordance with required specifications
• Plan and layout raw material, plates, angles, channels, tubing, pipe, etc. in accordance with specifications where close tolerance (+ or -") using blueprints, sketches, or written/verbal instructions
• Perform minor adjustments to machines as needed
• Perform rigging, lifting and moving of product using cranes, forklifts, etc.
• Abide by all plant safety rules and regulation and possess thorough understanding of these rules
• Operate an assortment of fabrication machinery or equipment, i.e. drill press, drills, hand grinders, hand plasma cutter, etc.
• Other duties as assigned

• For experienced candidates, 5 years of experience is ideal. Entry level candidates should have some basic knowledge of welding/fabrication.
• High school diploma or GED
• Must be able to use a computer to read and understand prints
• Must be motivated and work well by yourself and as a team
• Must have willingness to learn and grow with the department

• Must be able to lift to 50 lbs. on a regular basis
• Must be able to stand for long periods of time on cement surface and will be required to regularly bend, stretch, stoop, squat, climb ladders and perform work in confined positions.

Position type and expected hours of work: Full time- first shift. 7 am to 5 pm.
